Jesus Scholar and Jesus Seminar member, John Dominic Crossan (Dom) visited First Congregational Church on Friday and Saturday, October 10-11, 2014. We had a great time and learned a lot from the wise and learned man. Friday night’s lecture, Dom presented his understanding of escalatory violence presented throughout the Bible, emphasizing the contrasting views of peace through violence and peae through justice. The Saturday workshop gave an extraordinary summary of events within the Bible that focused on violence and how Jesus was presenting an alternative vision, as well as discussing how the focus of the Gospels changes as time passed. It was an educational and eightening experience. We were all blessed to have him share his time with us.

Change for Change, 2016

FCC Supports Heifer International

We are focusing our global giving on Heifer International throughout 2015. In 2014, 12 were able to donate a clutch of rabbits and a pair of goats. We will continue to accept donations of  loose change (and bills) on the second Sunday  of each month. All donations will go to help families in impoverished areas by providing resources to help them gain economic independence and sustain well-being for their families and communities. Watch the video below to learn more about Heifer International.

LGBTQ Pride

Pet Blessing, October 11, 2015

Our annual pet blessing was held on Sunday October 5th. We had several super sweet furry family members join us for our worship service. A memorial table was set up for those animals who have crossed over the Rainbow Bridge and for those who were at home. Our resident vet technician, Sara assisted Pastor Bill in the blessing by tying their collars with red ribbons.

We are pleased and proud to announce that Pastor Bill recently traveled to Indiana to participate in the commencement ceremony to receive his doctorate degree in psychology. He graduated with from the Graduate Theological Foundation. He also just recently celebrated his 20th year anniversary as a minister. Congratulations Dr. Greaver!
